Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actor, singer and model. She was known as the co-star of Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the vocalist for the girl group Apollonia 6 The singer and actress christened Apollonia by Prince became one of numerous female artists during the 1980s who benefited due to her relationship with the Purple One. Her birth name was Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her professional career began as a model and actress towards the end of the 1970s with a role on the tv show CHiPS. As the female protagonist of Prince's Purple Rain was her first role that she played in the year 1984. Prince changed the girl's name during this time. She was replaced by Vanity by the female group Vanity 6 who performed in the film by the name of Apollonia 6 replacing Vanity. She made more of an influence on the charts by being Prince's partner on Take Me with You, the duet on his soundtrack. When the two had a disagreement about the direction she wanted to take in her career Apollonia 6 broke up and Kotero stopped her collaboration with Prince. She was later seen in numerous minor movies during the period (reportedly declining to appear in"The Purple Rain" sequel Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) before landing her first role in the evening-time television drama Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia was the first artist to release her album in 1988. However, it was an average compilation of music from R&B and dancing that did not catch the attention of the general public. The album was quickly wiped completely from the public's view. Apollonia continued to act (if she was a little under the radar), with small TV roles, minor films and a DVD for exercise. Apollonia's Stay With Me album was released in 1997. Later, she returned to the school and to study filmmaking, and formed her own production firm, which mainly focuses on the field of children's TV. Apollonia is a multifaceted person. Her roles include model, actress and songwriter as well as a the talent agent. She is well known as an actress for her part in the film Purple Rain from 1984.
