Lars Mikkelsen

Lars MikkelsenWhen he was 27, he enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark and graduated in 1995. In addition to his role as The Killing's lead actor, he also appeared in two other internationally highly acclaimed Danish dramas: Those Who Kill, and Borgen III. He also appeared in episodes of BBC drama Sherlock as Charles Augustus Magnussen (blackmailer). He played the role of the Russian president in the American television show House of Cards. He was awarded an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his role in Danish TV drama Herrens Veje, which was shown in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen is proficient in English, Swedish and German. He also has various accents. Mikkelsen has said that both he and his brother learned English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the comedy sketches
